OMG! Trust them! I had that and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced! Even more than childbirth! It was bad. I was so scared to move! The one thing that really helped me to be able to move, I had to have a bed pillow held to my stomic. It really helps alot to do that. They can hold it there themselves. And to get up from a lying position, roll to the left side first, and use your left arm to help push yourself up. Keep that pillow held to the stomic too! Keep that pillow with them everywhere! Don’t let them clean or do any household chores for a couple of weeks. Eat lightly! I could only eat crackers and water the first couple of days. Then I progressed to chicken soup with the crackers. I also remember eating tuna from the can with crackers. That would be like three meals for me then. You can’t eat very much at first. And….when they get to eating more normal, if they develope a bad pain in the stomic, their system can’t handle that food any more! I found two. I used to love frozen burritos. Every time I would eat them, the pain is terrible! Just about like the pain that made you go to the doctors in the first place! So, It would be best to keep a journal of what they eat, so if they develope the pain, they know for sure what they ate. Stay away from heavy foods and dairy at first too. No pizza or anything. Eat lightly! Or it will hurt! Have sympathy for them. I mean it, I would not wish that pain on an enemy! I know two other people who have had the operation and they said the same thing. Mine was the old fashioned cut. They tried through my belly button, but something ruptured. So I had to do the other. Tell them to get well soon!

all i know is the gallbladder operation was the worst operation ever,i had mine out 9yrs ago and have had problems since,,the took lots of stones out also.now i have problems with digestion.and if i eat a sandwich;m to full to eat till the next day…and it was painful.the next morning ;the nurse says get up were gonna walk now,i refused and got to go home the next day,,,,,,,ps my incision is still a big ball mass;it;s gross;looks like i;m pregnant…LOL
